Completed at uni for my sculpture class, this was really my first serious carving.
It was carved form a block of hebel with chisels, knives, files etc., and stands at about half a metre.
Alot of sandpaper was involved, lol. It actually doesn't look like hebel (which is really grey and porous) because I coated it in several thin layers of hebel adhesive (kinda like cement) - which dries white and solid, and which I had used to glue the neck back on after it was beheaded during construction lol.
I've put it in the surreal category as opposed to figurative, as it's a heavily stylised swan, that does have a surreal look about it. Anyway, hope you like it!
