I drew this little robot on the back of a post card a while ago and thought he looked so cool that i had to do something with him. I cut him out and sat him on my desk. As I pursued various other projects, he watched over...waiting for his time to shine lol...this was about 3 months ago.

This was finished in a bit of a rush (I was using it for an interview I had the next day to get into uni). I started without a concept, I just wanted the robot to be accompanied by more things that had been cut out. Once the squares came and I started playing around with their placement, the idea of what it would all say simply cultivated itself. It was about being imaginative and original - a tornado of ideas and imagination coming out of his head, in contrast to the plain, orderly squares he resided in or was expected to adhere to (as a robot of course).

Hope you like it :)

Think Outside The Square by *Simanion... the sheer magnitude of the piece, not to mention its splendour and ornateness in detail... speaks for itself, as the title clearly iterates. ( Suggested by ~xqz-moi and Featured by `snowmask )

In thumbnail, I found this picture very interesting, but wait: the minute I enlarged this pic, I saw "IT", the single detail, that made everything clear, like, WHY i found this particular pic so mind-puzzling and so on.... I think that u know, what i mean... ;)

Christ Almighty, this is magnificent. What media did you use to create such fine details and varying line thicknesses?

Thanks! Well..all the drawn detail is from the same pen (just a standard Artline felt-tip pen). Then there were a few pieces I pasted on top, like the darker circles, the squares at the bottom and the robot itself :D
