A commissioned work, with the only requirements being that it aesthetically accompany this painting from a few years back: [link], as it was for the same person - this time for her 21st birthday.
That nostalgic, magical, childhood feeling is sometimes so hard to express visually. It's something that's contained entirely inside our heads - unique to each of us. As adults, we call upon these memories less and less. We don't exactly have a practical use for this feeling amongst all the burdens and obligations and dates. But we shouldn't forget the essence of what it was like to be a kid and truly believe in magic, and to actively search for the signs. Anyway, that's the vague concept here.
It's fun to come up with interesting and new ways to depict humans. Or humanoid characters. My attempts always fall in the "that's nice on paper, but if I saw them in real life walking down the street I'd be thoroughly disturbed" category. But I feel I should do more, they always surprise me.
