Inner Flow

Is this a painting or a drawing? It's definitely both, but maybe the drawing is most apparent..

But it started as only a painting I painted this rose years ago, for a uni subject called Botanical Studies, where we went to the park and painted flowers haha. Stressful stuff. It was one of my first watercolour works. I always liked the idea of all the petals forming this conglomeration that in 2D seemed only half flower, half abstract shapes.

Anyway, I hid it away and completely forgot about it. Fast forward 3 years and it falls out of a folder I pick up. There was potential in that white rose...but not enough definition in the lines and it was a bit boring.. So I took it somewhere completely different, to a graphic/liney place - trying to accentuate the natural flow of the petal shapes and illustrate the energy that I imagined was pulsing through them.

It's not the greatest work, but I like it because I feel it represents what I do generally - mesh traditional and graphic styles, and it's taken me a while to realise that.

Anyway, that is all. Lol.
